Background
We worked with data given by the City of Berkeley to create a web app for community members to understand where seismically unsound residential homes existed.
Process
We collaborated with various members of the Berkeley City Council to obtain the database of homes deemed seismically unfit, and to meet with city officials to get a better understanding of the process of getting softstory buildings in the city retrofitted. Once we obtained the database, we started cleaning the data and migrating it over to a backend server. Doing this allowed us to continue working on the frontend stack of the site while continuing to make optimizations to the data models we created in tandem.
Technologies Used
- HTML, CSS, and Javascript
- Google Maps API
- Python Django MVC Framework
